Holy Avtar Vani - Shabad No. 154
Rab nun haazar naazar takna is ton badda dharam nahin;
Sadhjanan di sewa bajhon changa koi karam nahi.
Jo santan di sewa andar tan mann dhan laganda ey;
Man di mail asal vich apni samjho dhoi janda ey.
Satguru de updesh ton vaddi hondi koi baani nahin;
Man apne nun bhent chadhana is ton vadh kurbanai nahin.
Jitthe beh ke rab na bhulle baddi than vadda asthaan;
Vaddi bhagati ohnun kehnde satguru jo kar laye parwaan.
Ehnan gallan da jo banda amlin karda ey parchaar;
Kahe avtar os ton jawan sau sau vari main balihar.
Meaning
Here Baba Avtar Singh ji says that a devotee is very close to God if he serves other saints and implements everything said by a True Master. There is no religion greater than to perceive God present everywhere. There is no better deed than to serve the true saints. While doing selfless service, a devotee can get rid of all evil thoughts that are there in his mind. There are no words sacred than the sermon of the True Master. There’s no sacrifice greater than surrendering one's mind unto the True Master. Exalted (at a high level) is the place, and the spot, where one sits and does not forget God. Greatest is the devotion that is accepted and acknowledged by the True master. The one who preaches all this through his practical life, babaji adores him a lot.
